Website information
We try to keep the information on this website accurate and up to date, but availability, prices, container sizes, access arrangements and services may change. Please check the booking portal or contact us before relying on any specific information.
Photographs are provided to show the general site and storage setup. The exact container, position or condition may vary.
Booking storage
Storage is booked through our online booking portal or by contacting us. Your booking may require completion of customer details, payment details, ID checks and acceptance of a digital storage licence.
A booking is not fully complete until it has been accepted by us and any required payment, customer checks and digital licence steps have been completed.
Payments
Storage charges are normally paid monthly in advance by card through the customer portal. Unless agreed otherwise, recurring payments will be taken from the payment card provided.
You are responsible for keeping your payment details up to date. Late or failed payments may lead to access being restricted and further action being taken in line with your storage licence.
Access times
Standard access times are:
- Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 8:00pm
- Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays: 9:00am to 7:00pm
Access is by gate code once your booking and handover are complete. Access times or site arrangements may change for security, maintenance, safety, emergency or operational reasons.
Site security
The site has security measures including gated access, CCTV, AI-assisted security cameras, vehicle number plate recognition and supplied container padlocks. These measures are intended to reduce risk, but they do not guarantee that theft, damage or unauthorised access can never occur.
Padlocks and keys
Unless stated otherwise in your storage licence, each container is supplied with a genuine Squire container padlock and key. You are responsible for keeping your key safe, locking the container securely after each visit and reporting any lost key, lock issue or suspected security concern as soon as possible. Replacement keys, lock changes or call-out costs may be chargeable where caused by loss, damage or misuse.
Customer responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- storing only suitable and lawful items
- locking your container securely
- keeping your access details safe and confidential
- using the site safely and respectfully
- supervising anyone who attends the site on your behalf
- avoiding damage to containers, gates, vehicles, surfaces, fixtures or other property
- paying charges when due
- giving notice correctly when you wish to leave
Damage caused by you, your visitors, contractors or anyone attending on your behalf may be charged to you.
Items that must not be stored
You must not store anything illegal, dangerous, explosive, flammable, toxic, perishable, living, stolen, environmentally hazardous, or likely to cause damage, nuisance, odour, infestation or risk to people or property.
This includes, but is not limited to, illegal goods, firearms, explosives, gas bottles, fuel, chemicals, food waste, animals, plants, cash, and items that require special licences or regulated storage conditions.
Insurance and value of goods
We do not provide insurance for your stored goods. You are responsible for arranging suitable insurance if you want your belongings covered. You should not assume that your household or business policy covers goods kept in self storage unless your insurer confirms this.
We may ask for a declared value of goods or apply limits in the storage licence.
Condensation and suitability of goods
Shipping containers can be affected by temperature changes and condensation, particularly if damp or wet items are stored. You are responsible for packing and protecting goods properly and for deciding whether a container is suitable for your items.
Do not store wet goods, damp furniture, unprotected soft furnishings, documents or moisture-sensitive items without suitable protection.
Ending storage
Unless agreed otherwise in your storage licence, you must give the required notice before leaving. The container should be emptied, swept out, locked and returned in a satisfactory condition. Keys, locks or access items provided by us must be returned or dealt with as instructed.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so. Subject to that, Garstang Self Storage is not responsible for indirect losses, business interruption, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or loss or damage caused by events outside our reasonable control.
Your specific rights and responsibilities will be set out in your storage licence.
